Artist Statement
For me, beauty is not necessarily about something being perfect or whole. Perhaps this is why I am so drawn to the medium of mosaic. Individual fragments, imperfect and broken, can be combined and interwoven in such a way as to reveal a rich tapestry for the senses. So come with me now as I explore the dance between light and shadow, shape and texture, brilliant color and muted tones, spontaneity and balance through the language of mosaic. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I do.
More About My Fine Art Prints & Cards
Taking close-up, photographic images of my stained glass mosaics, I attempt to capture the moment of transformation when sunlight reveals the inner detail and brings out the many colors within the glass. My goal is to be able to share the hidden beauty of art glass as expressed through the language of mosaic through my fine art prints and greeting cards.
More About My Stained Glass Mandalas
As a young boy, I was amazed by how light was transformed by stained glass. The colored shapes and patterns which were cast on nearby walls drew all my attention, while the depicted images in the stained glass windows all but disappeared.
Now I am able to play with the magic of color and luminosity as I create my mandalas. From hundreds of pieces of stained glass, each mandala comes together to create beautiful patterns and effects. My inspiration comes from many sources including the great rose windows of Europe, nature, kaleidoscopes, sacred geometry and modern day crop circles. For me the process of creating each mandala is both meditative and healing. My hope is that you will also come to enjoy their beauty as well.
