The title "Dance Me to the End of Love" refers to a song by Leonard Cohen.
When I began the sketch for this mosaic, my intention was my life as a rollercoaster, the twists and turns, the ups and downs, the joys and sorrows, and me "showing up" and disappearing. But as I started creating it, my feelings and understanding changed. I seemed to get a broader perspective. It was as if I were able to look at my whole life realizing that it was more like a beautiful dance including the profane (i.e. the routine and ordinary) and the sacred (i.e. the intimate, sensual, and authentic). Listening to Leonard Cohen sing, I was struck by his words. I wondered why these words connected with me so deeply? And then I realized that "the end" can also mean "the destination." What if life is a journey to Love.
