The West Texas landscape with its bare dirt, desert heat and lack of water transforms, almost magically, into a celebration of life by periodic rain. Flowers bloom among the sharp daggers and thorns. Color covers the flats and the dust takes a sabbatical. Still, life is short for the Vermillion Flycatcher, while old man mountain reigns quietly framed by a brilliant evening sky.
